Major Emphasis Program Award Entry Tips / Eligibility Information

  • Type the information on the current official "Major Emphasis Program Award" report form. Use it as the cover sheet / first page of the entry. The entry form will be considered as part of the report. Have the appropriate certification signatures on the form. Our district is Pennsylvania. List total service hours involved.

  • List the actual number of club members paid as of December 1, 2007 and February 1, 2008. Membership numbers are subject to verification with Key Club International dues records.

  • Have the appropriate certification signatures on the official report form.

  • Type the report including the entry report form.

  • Begin each section listed under section "G," in the current "Guidebook" (page 20), on a new page.

  • Begin each page with a heading specifying the section being described. There is no word limit!

  • Describe only activity that start a phase of the MEP after the March 2008 PA District Key Club Convention.


Category Judging Criteria Tips Check List

  • Service Need—State the need; list the methods and steps taken to determine how the need deals with the MEP.

  • Project Plan—Describe how the project was organized, the time frame, projected costs, service hours, resources needed, etc.

  • Project Implementation—Describe the steps taken to carry out the plan.

  • Final Results—Describe the benefits of the service rendered, specifically "key" into highlighting personal development and social interaction of children. If you show the number of individuals served by the project, the impact on the school and community, and the long-term benefits in this category, it will be impressive.

  • Partnerships with the Kiwanis Family and Other Organizations—Describe how partnerships were formulated. Describe how you worked together on the project. Describe how the project was publicized.

  • Member Participation—Report the percentage of club members who participated.

  • Club's Overall Program Dealing with MEP—Describe the projects / programs that were implemented to address the MEP. Describe how your club worked on the MEP during other parts of the year.
