"High Five for Health"

High Five for Health High Five for Health is the MEP for 2007-2008 and is an initiative that targets children and parents all over the country. Is is about nutrition, wellness, and play, and it focuses on education, children, and parents. You can start by finding out more information on what your local Key Club is doing for the MEP. Then, find your local elementary schools, middle schools, day cares, preschools or any other areas that target entertaining children, and teach them how to live a healthy lifestyle! Why would you do this?

Because...

  • obesity is "a wave that could swamp the public health care system" (says Dr. Brian McCrindle, a public childhood obesity expert)
  • nearly half of the children in North America and South America will be overweight by 2010 if nothing is done about it
  • obese children are at greater risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes as they age
  • Key Club can do something about it!
